Recieved life membership in 1963.
Starting with the club as a junior in 1942, Alan Ray would go on to play 186 First Grade games from 1951 to 1962. Alan received the Best and Fairest awards in 1953, 1955 and 1961. He was the Football Club Secretary from 1958 to 1968, Senior Vice President from 1970 to 1971, President from 1972 to 1975 and Treasurer from 1978 to 1981.
Alan Ray continues on his fathers legacy, Stan Ray was also a notable figure at Ainslie and is responsible for starting the " Ray Family Scholarship" which Alan continues to uphold. This scholarship aims to support junior players in their transition to the senior teams as its support is focused on the junior players who have established a commitment to Ainslie by playing for several years and shows an aptitude to play at a senior level, whilst also taking into consideration the families whose backgrounds would benefit from the scholarship.
Alan was whom the Ainslie Oval would be renamed after, this decision was made in 2014 and was to commemorate Alan's long several decades of service at Ainslie. From junior player to President Alan had made a large impact on the club and is often credited with the clubs growth during his tenure. Seeing expansion into forming the Gungahlin Lakes Club, as well as the Canberra City Bowling Club.
