Ainslie’s Women’s Program has received a fresh coat of paint with new players, new coaches, new goals!

The program has seen an influx of new players, alongside a strong cohort of Rising Stars joining the Senior ranks. Players have noted healthy competition at training, Leadership Group Player Jamie Clayden saying;

“These young girls are really challenging us … so it’s pushing us all to step up”

Training kicked off back in November, Coach Stafford Cooper has been putting a focus on running and stamina – drilling discipline and drive into the group to ensure they beat their opponent to every contest.

At the helm with Stafford is First Grade Assistant Coach, Sally Williamson, a new face at the club bringing experience playing in the NTFL, WAFLW, and coaching at Claremont Football Club in Western Australia. Allyson “Flynny” Flynn returns to lead the Women’s Second Grade team as a significant long-term contributor to the club.

Ainslie will continue to field four Senior Women’s teams in 2025 – with Rohan Schlesinger taking on the Rising Stars and Oliver Di Pofi leading the Community Division 1. Though it’s their first Senior Coaching role with the club, they’re familiar Ainslie faces and we’re excited to see our group come together this season.

Tackling each game with consistent ferocity; the focus on getting the teams to be consistent – not just to reach the finals but, to remain great all season.

Actions speak louder than words, and Ainslie’s 20.12.132 – 0.0.2 performance against Tuggeranong Valley in the season opener speaks volumes to their preparation and team cohesion.

A standout to the team is young Imogen Morse, at 17 years old she’s coming off an undefeated season with the Rising Stars as the League’s Leading Goal Kicker with 63 slotted through the middle. Alongside teammate Karina ‘KD’ Demant who has won the award five-times, this will be a duo to watch in Season 2025.

What’s next for Ainslie?

In a First Grade Easter Showcase, both Men’s and Women’s will take on the Gungahlin Jets in a twilight match this Thursday, 17th April at Alan Ray Oval – 6pm First Bounce.

While you’re in town, visit The Ainslie Football & Social Club for their Easter “Eggstravagana” Raffle on Wednesday the 16th of April – this will be the big one!

The Club will also be serving up Easter Seafood Specials from Friday 18th to Monday 21st, book a table and view the menu here.
