Received life membership in 2024.
Starting in 2006 Ash joined Ainslie after having already displayed a talent for sports in the ACTAS’s junior Soccer program where he honed in his strength and speed. Initially unsure of making the jump from Soccer to AFL, Ash took the chance to come to the 2006 pre-season training after several years of prodding from his friend and fellow Ainslie player Matthew Vickers and with some support from Ken, his Father, Ash began to show off his talents while wearing the tri-colours, with a very talented left foot and versatility all over the pitch.
Not long after, Andrew “Eagle” Bishop caught wind of his talent and gave him his First-Grade debut. Playing 189 senior games over his career, Ash was known as a gentleman player. Never complaining or backchatting at training or game day, showing respect to his team and opposition both on and off the field.
This attitude shone through over his career, participating in Five Premierships, representing ACTAFL on multiple occasions, and twice receiving the Runner Up B&F. Ash would eventually retire in 2018 to spend time with Jacq and his growing family of four children.
Life Membership for Ash is a testament of his strong character, leadership and tenacity whenever he donned the Red, White and Black.
