Recieved life membership in 1966.

Barry was a player at Ainslie starting in 1945 and would continue to play for 20 years, retiring from the field in 1965. During that time he played in premiership teams in the years 1958, 59, and 61. Always a strong player he collected several awards over his decades of play, including the Mulrooney medal in 1955, and 56 as well as best and fairest in 1956, and 57. He would amass 171 first grade games played over his career.

Upon his retirement Barry would take up the position of honorary treasurer, a station he performed in from 1965-1975, following on from here Barry would continue return to serve the club on the board of directors starting in 1989, he would work his way up to an executive in 1990 and would become club president in 1996 through to 1999. In 2000 he would receive a life membership to the social club.

The capstone to his AFL legacy would be the honour of being inducted into the AFL Canberra Hall of Fame in 2006.
