Received life membership in 2019.
Dani has been playing with Ainslie since 2002, notching an incredible career spanning over three decades. The 27th of April 2019 was a historic day for Ainslie and Dani, where she became the first woman at Ainslie to play 200 Senior Games. Ainslie would fittingly go on to win over rivals Belconnen where Dani put in a best on ground performance.
During her time at Ainslie, Dani was a highly respected and influential member of the women’s team, noted for her commitment to the team week in and week out by those around her. She was considered by her teammates “unlike any other ruckman in the competition in terms of her tap work, agility, skills and obvious goal kicking ability”.
Despite a knee injury that was described by physios as “football ending”, Dani’s never say die attitude has seen her come back to footy bigger and better than ever, a true demonstration of her love for the game.
A testament to Dani’s standing at the club, the much coveted women’s best and fairest award at Ainslie is named in her honour and her name also sits on top of the ‘Dani Curcio Scoreboard’. Life Membership for Dani’s represents her unwavering commitment to the club over twenty years as a pioneer of the women’s football program at Ainslie.
