Received life membership in 2024.
Giles Tranter has been a pillar of the Ainslie Football Club Community for over two decades with over 200 games to his name.
After playing Junior football at Ainslie, graduating through the Under 18’s team as captain in 2006, Giles won the reserve grade best and fairest in 2007 as well as making his debut in First Grade.
His skill and determination as a hard inside midfielder made him the best and most important player in Ainslie’s Third Grade team over many years. Over the next decade, despite persistent knee injuries, Giles would continue to be a key part of the community football program as a player, winning the 2013 Third Grade B&F and a premiership in 2014 along with a number of best clubman awards in Third Grade as well as the Moore Trophy for Best Club Person in 2018.
Perhaps more importantly, it was his tireless efforts in coaching through the 2010s and into the 2020s, keeping the community football program alive where he has had the most impact.
Life Membership for Giles recognises not only his playing achievements but importantly the countless hours he has put in that has played apart in Ainslie being the only club in Canberra to field four Men’s teams every year for the last decade, meaning that each weekend 22 more people get the chance to don the Red, White & Black.
