Received life membership in 1997.

Ian, or Waddler as he's affectionately known, commenced playing for the Ainslie FC from the age of 5 and has remained a loyal servant of the club in both a football and administrator capacity. Along the way he clocked up 201 1st Grade games and played in 7 premierships including participating in 6 consecutive 1st Grade Grand Finals for an unbelievable 6 Premierships.  Furthremore, Ian holds a League record along with father Alan as only Father/Son combination to play 200 First Grade games.

A former partner of a prominent Canberra sporting business "Sportsman Warehouse" since 2002, Ian worked there for 25 years before relinquishing his stake in the company in 2007 to pursue other challenges in Real Estate and Bentspoke Brewing as the National Sales Manager. Ian has now "returned to his roots" and is the National Sales Manager for the Overland Group,a market leading distributor and licensee of brands across sports, outdoor and safety categories throughout Australia. 

Awarded Life Membership in 1997, Ian was been President of the Ainslie FC Board from 2006 to 2016 and through his drive and passion oversaw the move into the NEAFL. Ian was not only been a tremendous contributor on the playing field but also a fantastic administrator for the Ainslie FC and AFL Football in Canberra. His entire family including wife Linda –a former AFL Canberra Board Member and children Billy, Harry and Tommy – who play for the Ainslie through the juniors and now all 3 of them now in the senior ranks, will carry the Muir name in AFL Canberra for many decades.
