John “Jack” Irvine was one of the founding members of the Ainslie Football Club, alonside his tenure at Ainslie he concurrently served as the secretary for St Kilda and the Honourary Vice President for Ainslie in 1928; roles he would maintain for several years at both clubs, ending his tenture at St Kilda in 1932 and retiring from Ainslie in 1936. John is also credited with providing the first tri-colour flag to the club.
