A true trailblazer for Women’s Football at Ainslie and the ACT – the first woman to play 100 games of football in Canberra, is no small feat. Kendelle was an Ainslie Junior up until Under 14s when she wasn’t allowed to play in the boy’s competition. In 1999 at the age of 16 she joined the Women’s League; in its second year of competition.
There have been plenty of significant firsts including the captaining Ainslie’s first Women’s Premiership in 2001, and featuring in three more Grand Finals (2008, 2009,2010). Kendelle went on to represent the ACT from 1999 –2002 & 2004, was named All Australian in 1999 & 2000, and was named in the ACT Women’s Team of the Decade as Centre Half Back (1998 – 2007).’ Continuing her commitment to the game through coaching in the inaugural Youth Girls competition, going on to coach over 150 games earnt her the naming rights of the B&F Shield.
In her dedication to Women’s Football, Kendelle left the club in 2013 to build the 13th Women’s team at Molonglo – a move that would create two divisions for women’s football in Canberra.
