Received life membership in 2025.

Rene joined the Ainslie Football Club in 2011 and has since been a cornerstone of the Club’s community football program. With over more than a decade of service both on and off the field, Rene’s contributions served as a player, coach and through volunteering efforts. On the field – Rene has played 170+ games for Ainslie’s community grades and served as a captain of his respective teams. Rene would also serve as an assistant coach, and contributed extensively to fitness and coaching programs.
Rene’s impact has been recognised through multiple awards, including being named Best Clubman of the Year across the entire Club in 2011, as well as a five-time Community Grade Best Clubman recipient.
Beyond the field, Rene’s contribution has been defined by his tireless volunteerism and unwavering commitment to the Club’s people and culture. Since arriving at Ainslie, he has coordinated training and playing kits, organised social functions, assisted with team selections and player availability, attended AFL Canberra meetings, organised transport and logistics, umpired matches – consistently stepping up wherever help was needed.
A passionate advocate for community football, Rene has been instrumental in sustaining multiple community teams and ensuring players feel connected, supported and valued — to the extent that without his efforts, the Club acknowledges it would not have maintained its depth or strong community environment. Rene’s Life Membership recognises not only his longevity and service, but the quiet leadership, generosity and integrity that have left a lasting legacy at Ainslie.
