Received life membership in 1961.
Roy briefly played for Ainslie in 1957, but would continue at the club as treasurer between 57 and 1964. Roy served not just at Ainslie Football club, but also at the Ainslie Cricket Club, and predominantly at the Department of Treasury. Prior to his time at Ainslie, Roy caught the attention of the press as he suffered from a vision impairment that threatened to leave him blind. in 1949 he would trek across the world to America for surgery, his journey being recounted in the Canberra Times Newspaper for his fellow Canberrans who had provided financial support for the journey.
