Recieved life membership in 1953.

Becoming associated with the Ainslie Football Club in 1933 Stan Ray initally managed the Junior Teams for some years and was eventually a Delegate to the Junior League from 1947-50.  Other positions held were First Grade Manager, League Delegate, Senior Vice President, Vice President and Secretary.

He was made a Life Member of the Club in 1953 and of CANFL in 1956, in 1961 he received the Merit Award of the Australian National Football Council "long and valuable service to Australian Football".

Stan became patron of the Club in 1987 and retained the position until his death in 1995.  He was a foundational member of the Ainslie Football and Social Club and was Vice President from 1957 to 1958 and 1960 to 1964.

Stan Ray received the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for services to football and the community in 1993.  In his long association with football in the ACT, he took a keen interest in publicity and the maintenance of historical records of the development of football in the district.  He researched and completed a history of Australian Football in the ACT 1911-1973, which was published by the League.

Stan assumed the role of chief historian for the Ainslie Football Club and was largely responsible for the many publications of our Club history.  It is through his research and collection of materials, relics and photographs that we are able to trace the history of the Football and Social Club back from 1927 and have such an extensive archive.

During his latter years, he wanted to "do a little something", as he put it, for the Juniors and it was decided that we would have a Junior Scholarship to help keep a Junior playing Australian Rules.  This scholarship was to be used in the older age groups to encourage young players to continue.  With very much reluctance, he allowed us to call it the Stan Ray Scholarship and this was started with the help also of two other sizeable donors who wished to remain anonymous.  Stan kept this going for many years and upon his death, his son Alan, Along with the Ainslie Veterans Club, has kept this going in his memory.
