Dear Ainslie Family,
It’s with great sadness to let you know we lost another great Ainslie person last Friday – Barry Kershaw. He was struck down recently with pneumonia and he already had underlying issues with his lung function.
In 1957 Barry was promoted from the juniors at age 15 and continued to play for Ainslie until 1972.
He played 164 games, was the winner of the Best and Fairest award in 1965 and 1968 and was a member of the 1958, 1959 ,1961 and 1970 Premiership teams. Barry was also a constant in ACT Representative teams from 1960 to 1969. He was made a life member of the Football Club in 1975.
Barry has really enjoyed our Life Member/100 Club Lunches the last few years since we introduced this event to our calendar.
His funeral will be held on the Monday the 23rd June at 1pm – William Cole Funerals – Nettlefold St, Belconnen.
Our thoughts go out to Barry’s family during this time.
