Received life membership in 2004.
Jeffery Mohrwinkel made a name for himself by playing in the 1987 Teal Cup for the ACT against some of the best talent across the country at the time. Jeffery would then join Ainslie in 1987 in the intermediaries (u17s) where the Mohrwinkel name would become associated with Ainslie – with his father John coaching and older brother Chris also representing Ainslie. Jeff would advance to the senior ranks and continue to play for Ainslie until 1994 and notching 100 First Grade Games during his career with Premiership success in 1990, 92, 93 and 94. An individual testament to his role within Ainslie’s success over these years, Jeffery was awarded the club’s Best and Fairest in 1991.
Alongside Jeffery’s success with Ainslie, he was also picked up for the ACT rep teams in 1990,93, and 94. During his 100th First Grade Game Jeffery was able to play his heart out, running circles around the Belconnen team and delivering Best on Ground performance in a 143-62 win over them, Unfortunately he was unable to continue playing the rest of the season as with a sudden announcement during the week after the game of his recruitment into the army.
Despite his sudden departure Jeff couldn’t stay away from Ainslie and turned his attention to coaching and management. He would go onto manage multiple junior and senior level teams all the way up until 2006. Life Membership for Jeffery highlights not only his on-field contributions to Ainslie’s success in the early 90s but also his commitment to Ainslie even through outstanding circumstances.
