Received Life Membership in 2013.

Geoff started his time at Ainslie as a junior and was noted as a prominent player who represented several youth ACT sides, before he would make the eventual transition to the senior sides in the early 70s.

Geoff notched just over 50 First Grade games playing as a half-back between the years of 1970 and 1973 and was a member of the 1970 Premiership winning side. In a senior career that was relatively short lived but still highlighted as a premiership player, Geoff concluded his time as a player after four seasons.

With some time away from Ainslie, Geoff was then inevitably drawn back to Ainslie as a Junior coach while also serving roles in an administrative capacity in the 1990s and early 2000s. Geoff served as a committee member during this time and was pivotal in supporting junior football programs during his tenure, noted for navigating and coordinating the initial stages of the Auskick program at Ainslie.

The McCormick family name would continue to run around Alan Lay Oval even long after Geoff’s playing days, where Jade and Luke McCormick plucked the family trend to also play football for Ainslie. Jade would become an inaugural member of the 1998 Women’s side, while Luke also represented Ainslie before being drafted to North Melbourne.

Geoff’s recognition of Life Membership values his roles on and off the field as a premiership player, committee member and coach, while also celebrating the lasting McCormick family association with the club.
