Received life membership in 2013.

Geoff started out as a junior for Ainslie and was noted as a prominent junior who represented several youth ACT sides, before transitioning to the senior sides in the 70s, notching just over 50 First Grade games playing as a half-back between the years of 1970 and 1974 and was a member of the 1970 premiership winning side – just the ninth title in the clubs 30 year history at the time.

Geoff concluded his time as a senior player after five seasons, before some time away from the club before, he was inevitably drawn back to Ainslie in an administrative capacity in the 1990s and early 2000s. Geoff served as a committee member during this time and was pivotal in supporting junior football programs during his tenure, noted for navigating and coordinating the initial stages of the Auskick program at Ainslie.

The McCormick family name would continue to run around Alan Lay Oval even long after Geoff’s playing days, where Jade McCormick plucked the family trend to also play football for Ainslie and was an inaugural member of the 1998 women’s side. Geoff’s recognition of Life Membership values his roles on and off the field as a premiership player and committee member, and the lasting McCormick family association with the club.
