Peter “Jack” Ireland’s time at Ainslie was hallmarked by his consistent contributions to Ainslie’s 90s dominance. A team‑oriented player renowned for his clean foot skills, Jack’s consistency was pioneered over the 1990, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996 and 1997 premiership seasons – one of only four players to play in Ainslie six straight premierships.

Originating from the far west outback of New South Wales in Broken Hill, Jack’s highly decorated career started well before his time at Ainslie, representing New South Wales on six occasions. Primarily playing as a centre and as a small forward, Jack’s dominance earned a junior All Australian selection in 1984.

His senior football journey began in the SANFL in Adelaide before having to undergo knee surgery, relocating to Canberra and then joining Ainslie in 1989 to forge a playing career that spanned a decade, totalling 153 senior games.

Following his playing days, Jack continued to serve the club off-the-field aiding Ainslie’s transition into the new millennium. Jack served with distinction as an active Board Member and Treasurer of both the Ainslie Football Club and the Ainslie Social Club Committees from 1999 to 2005.

Life Membership for Jack recognises his outstanding and consistent contributions to Ainslie’s premiership sides in the 90s, a true testament to his discipline for over a decade. It also recognises his continued administrative support for the club throughout the early 2000s in transitioning the next era of Ainslie Football.
