A true trailblazer for Women’s Football at Ainslie and the ACT – the First Woman to play 100 games of Football in Canberra is no small feat.
Kendelle was an Ainslie Junior up until the u14s when she wasn’t allowed to play in the Boy’s competition. In 1999 at only 16 she joined the Women’s League; in its second year of competition.
There have been plenty of significant firsts for Kendelle including the captaining Ainslie’s first Women’s Premiership in 2001, and featuring in three more Grand Finals in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
Kendelle went on to represent the ACT from 1999 –2002 & 2004, was named All Australian in 1999 & 2000, and was named in the ACT Women’s Team of the Decade as Centre Half Back (1998 – 2007).
Continuing her commitment to the game through coaching in the inaugural Youth Girls competition, Kendelle went on to coach over 150 games which earnt her the naming rights of the B&F Shield.
In her dedication to Women’s Football, Kendelle left the club in 2013 to build the 13th Women’s team at Molonglo in a move that would allow the creation of two divisions for Women’s Football in Canberra.
Life Membership for Kendelle is a testament to the growing struggles she faced as a Female playing sport in the 90s where her passion shone through to lead to the eventual growth of the Female game at Ainslie and beyond.
