Reece’s highly decorated football career at Ainslie consisted some incredible numbers and achievements:
123 first grade games over his 9 years at the club, accumulating four premierships under his belt and an Alex Jesaulenko Medallist in 1997 for best and fairest in the grand final, where Ainslie beat Tuggeranong by 34 points – a league record at the time.
A prolific goal scorer and midfielder, Reece played as a ruck rover who possessed elite skills and an uncanny ability to beat tacklers. Reece was a big game player for Ainslie standing tall in important moments with eight goals across the four grand finals he played for Ainslie in 1994, 1995, 1996 and 1997. After playing in four successive premiership-winning seasons with Ainslie, Langan left the club at the end of 1997 with former coach Ross Smith to play in the Bendigo league before returning to Ainslie in 2001.
A recognition of his immense contribution to Ainslie’s golden success in the 90s, Reece was awarded four best and fairest awards in the seasons of 1994, 1996, 1997 and 2002 – the most in the clubs history.
Reece’s decorated achievements extend beyond Ainslie too, a deserved induction into AFL Canberra’s Hall of Fame in 2023 and inclusion in AFL Canberra’s Team of the Century. Reece’s performance in his almost decade stint at Ainslie was rewarded on several occasions with selection for ACT representatives sides in 1994, 1995 and 1996.
