Received Life Membership in 2013.

Salvo’s administrative work for Ainslie spanned over ten years, initially starting as President of the Ainslie Junior Club before transitioning into senior committee roles.

Initially, Salvo found his passion for football at Ainslie as a junior throughout the 1980s. Notably in his junior career, Salvo was Captain of the U15s Premiership team in 1982 and also finished runners up in the Under 19 Grade Best & Fairest voting in 1986.

Salvo would then advance to Ainslie senior sides, where he was a notable consistent player for Ainslie community sides, even delivering a best on ground performance in the 1993 Division 2 Final, where Ainslie were convincing premiers over Harman.

While still playing, Salvo had a keen eye for off-field work for Ainslie, where he would also coach Ainslie junior teams and serve as the Publicity Officer on the committee.

After several years overseas, Salvo would return to continue his association with Ainslie when son Dylan started junior football at Ainslie in 2000.

Salvo served as a junior coach and as President of the Junior Club between 2000 and 2006. Many Ainslie junior players would progress through to the senior ranks under Salvo’s Presidency stint, a testament to Salvo’s positive work in making Ainslie an environment juniors want to stay and progress through. As President of the Junior Club, Salvo was also pivotal in obtaining the use of Majura Oval in 2001 and reintroducing junior away trips to Melbourne for young Ainslie players.

Salvo would then transition to administrative roles for the Ainslie Senior Club, starting as a director in 2007 and for years to come continued to work in committee roles, notably working in a sponsorship capacity, strengthening Ainslie relations with the local community. In 2012, Salvo would undertake the Vice-Presidency of the club and play a key role in the governance and development of the football program during his three year tenure.

Salvo’s induction as a Life Member speaks volume to his array of administrative contributions and his role in the development of Ainslie players across the span of three decades.
