After a great win on Saturday from the Men’s 1st Grade & before our Women’s game against Belconnen the players, staff and supporters gathered on Alan Ray Oval for a special presentation. The Ian Muir Room was unveiled and what a surprise it was.
A team of AFC Volunteers helped to do renovations and updates to the previously named Sponsors Room. Ian was blown away and being surrounded by family and friends enjoyed the afternoon in the newly named room.
Ian has been involved with the Ainslie Football Club since the early 1970’s, playing all his junior games with Ainslie before heading into the senior ranks. Ian played 201 games for Men’s 1st Grade and along with his dad Alan Muir (Queanbeyan Tigers) one of a select group of fathers & sons to each play 200 games in the ACT AFL competitions.
– 1992 to 1997 1st Grade side of 6 in a row
Ian became a life member of Ainslie Football Club in 1997 and was the AFC President from 2006 To 2016. Ian continues to represent on the Board and is a passionate supporter with all three of his boys, Billy, Harry & Tommy currently playing in the Men’s Senior teams.
Congratulations Wads on a great achievement!
